About Satay LA
Satay has been in our family for generations — a tradition carried from my Oma and Opa, who came from the Dutch side during the Dutch occupation of Indonesia.
After WWII, when the Dutch were forced out and the Japanese POW camps closed, our family lived through the Bersiap era — a time of great upheaval. From Indonesia, they moved to Holland, and eventually the last wave of our family arrived in Los Angeles, where I took up the torch.
At Satay LA, we honor that journey with every skewer. Our Indonesian satay is made using traditional marinades and spices, most of them imported directly from Indonesia, creating bold, authentic flavors you can taste in every bite.
We offer pork, chicken, and tofu options — all made fresh, all rooted in a story that spans continents and generations. This is more than food; it’s our family’s history on a plate.
Thank you for being part of the story — we can’t wait to serve you at Satay LA.
